What we do is an expression of our state, not the other way around.

In our culture, we have this bass ackwards, we are raised being told to be successfull, we must do this and do that, and we will achieve success, our lives will be good, and our state will be happy. Thus children are taught to do this and to do that, and from that they are supposed to achieve a state of well being and enjoyment of life. This creates a dependence of life being good, on doing. With this, each mistake (learning opportunity) becomes a setback to achieving a good state, and causes the child to suffer more deeply into the illusion of life being a series of activities.

Rather, teaching the child that maintaining a good state of mind and appreciation of life as a gift will bring them into a creative space (state of mind/being) from which they will express this happiness as focus and persistence with learning opportunities. This results in doing good work, and creating value.

Silly that we have lost track of the mysterious gift that life is, and have bugun to transfer this confusion to our children in the most detremental way, not only have we individually perpetuated this confusion, but rather have in fact institutionalized it. Those children who instead of doing success, rather seek to experience through low level and short term ways (drugs and alcohol, unconsious sexuality, general irresponsibility, etc.) some form of enjoyment of life, for the sake of life find themselves ostricised from social and cultural opportunities sancioned by the "norm" of society. Not only have we caused the bulk of our offspring to miss the joy and wealth in being, but have actually created a detriment to seeking and finding it.

Perhaps this is simply darwinian evolution at its textbook peak of opperation, society and culture ensuring through its function that only those truley adept and strong in seeking and experiencing this reality of being will find the way, and fewer still will actually succeed in expressing it. This I suppose would lend towards a more refined gene pool moving in the direction of REAL success, creating a race of NEW BEINGS who will evolve the species in the direction of true EVOLUTION....
